Why Your Computer Feels Slow and What to Do First

A quick triage guide before replacing hardware.

1) Check startup apps. Too many startup programs can slow boot time dramatically. Disable non-essential items first.

2) Confirm available storage. Systems with very low free space often become unstable and slow. Keep at least 15–20% free when possible.

3) Run updates. Install pending OS and driver updates to resolve performance bugs and compatibility issues.

4) Scan for malware. Unwanted software can quietly consume CPU, memory, and network resources.

5) Review browser health. Too many extensions and tabs can make a healthy computer feel slow.

6) Evaluate hardware limits. If CPU/RAM/disk usage stays near max during normal tasks, targeted upgrades may be the right next step.
